Dear QA automation engineers,
This is my first post in this forum and I wonder if anyone would be interested to discover a new CSS regression testing tool (released this year). It is named Screenster and it does not require you to write any code to start recording visual tests for your web UI.
Screenster is able to:
- create a visual baseline: it opens a target URL in a selected browser, captures each user input and takes a screenshot;
- detect minor UI changes: during a playback, a new screenshot is captured at each step, and it is compared to an initial screenshot; all differences are marked with red;
- make test maintenance easy: you can edit each test step, delete and add new steps, modify actions in each step, override tests with new parameters etc.
Screenster can be installed locally, on a dedicated test server in a corporate intranet, or run in the cloud. It has a free limited usage which allows having up to 5 tests on your server at a time.
Questions:
- Would be a CSS/visual regression testing tool helpful for your web project?
- If so, how many automated tests would you need?
- Would you prefer a locally installed version or a cloud instance?
- Would you try Screenster online for free?
