DTM DB Stress is a software for stress testing and load testing the server parts of information systems and database applications, as well as databases and servers themselves. It is suitable for solution scalability and performance testing, comparison and tuning. The tool allows users to create and configure a continuous set of requests to the server of the OLAP (query execution) and OLTP (adding/loading, modifying and deleting data in the database) types. The user can specify number of virtual users to be emulated, priority and type of requests for each task (virtual user type).

Database independent. You can test your Microsoft SQL Server database as well as IBM DB2 or Oracle database application. The stress tool supports all unified database interfaces: ODBC, IDAPI, OLE DB and Oracle Call Interface.
The dynamic SQL statement support and built-in test data generator enable you to make test jobs more flexible.
Value File allows users to emulate variations in the end-user activity.
Command line support (console mode) helps users to automate stress testing process or run it by schedule.

Getting Started

Operating systems support - Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, Windows 8(desktop), Server 2003, 2008, 2012.
What kind of unified database interfaces are supported? - ODBC, IDAPI, OLE DB or Oracle Call Interface.
x64 edition of the stress tool supports ODBC interface only.
Does the database performance test tool support desktop database formats? - Yes: Microsoft Access, DBF, Text/csv, Microsoft Excel, Paradox.
Does the product support any DBMS-specific features? - Yes, for Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Sybase, MySQL, Informix, PostgreSQL and Interbase/Firebird.

How to create stress test with DTM DB Stress utility?

Connecting to database The stress tool requires database connection to execute stress tasks. By default all tasks use common connection. However professional version of the stress software allows the user to specify task-level connections.
Create a task One task emulates one client activity. To specify a few clients with a same behavior just set number of concurrent threads in the task properties. Additional options allow to make task more flexible. Read more about task properties. Also, as the task definition you can import set of SQL statements caught by SQL Profiler.
Reporting settings (optional) The program can generate following execution reports:
- Basic report with detailed execution time information (HTML format).
- SQL report contains executed statements ant depended metrics.
- Excel compatible report.
- Performance counters report.
Run the stress test By default the stress tool runs all enabled tasks concurrently.

The Professional and Enterprise edition users can run tasks sequentially as well as group tasks and use "by group" execution mode.
